The door blinked open in the wall a little after two in the morning, which is the hour most doors prefer.
It had been summoned, although not on purpose. The student at the desk had been writing notes about a circle for so long that the notes had begun to write back, and somewhere between one line and the next they had drawn, without noticing, the exact shape a door needs.
Curiosity, as it tends to, won. In they went, and on the other side they were very small, and it was very dark, and they were not alone.
These are the first panels. Redrawn opening pages, the story in the middle (circles, donuts, lattices, elliptic curves and modular forms, some of it for you to play with) and the ending are on their way.
